Day 3

Brisbane (Canungra)

Leave Brisbane and continue south to Canungra at the gates of the Lamington National Park. Full driving directions will be in your confirmed itinerary. Driving time from Brisbane to Canungra is approximately one hour. Visit O’ Reillys Rainforest Guesthouse. It was in 1911 that the owner’s forebears traveled from the Blue Mountains district of New South Wales and selected 100 acre blocks of land on the mountain. Later that year, the remaining land was withdrawn from selection and in 1915 all further private land ownership and development of the region was halted when the Lamington National Park was declared. The road linking the property with the town of Canungra was constructed in the mid 1930’s. As a result of this slow development, the property is surrounded by National Park and the abundant wildlife and rainforest that it preserves. Overnight stay at O’ Reilly’s.
