Home to some of the most breathtaking scenery in all of South East Asia, Sapa is surrounded by vivid green rice terraces and inhabited by ethnic minority cultures. It is both a perfect tourist drawcard and an inherently vulnerable natural and cultural asset. Travel to this peaceful land and meet resplendently dressed ethnic minorities at the local market, visit neighbouring villages and hike through the villages of Y Linh Ho and Lao Chai where you can find people from the Hmong minority.  Let Indochina Strings be your companion as you meet the unaffected people of the Sapa for an exotic and enlightening experience.




Day 1 

Lao Cai
Hanói – Lao Cai (Sapa)
Transfer to the train station to travel fom Hanoi to Lao Cai. Scheduled departure time: To be determined.

Accommodation on board, air conditioning in the cabin with 4 soft beds (shared cabin).

Note: Check supplements for VIP cabin with 2 beds. The guide will accompany them on the train to Sapa.

The trip duration is 10 hours, but it depends on each operator.

Day 2 [-/-/-] 

Lao Cai (Arrival) – Sapa – Y Linh Ho – Lao Chai – Ta Van

When you get to Lao Cai, our correspondent will be waiting to take you to the town of Sapa, which is the place where this tour begins.

In a local hotel you will have a designated room to take a shower.

Have breakfast and later our guide in Sapa will explain to you everything that will happen on this day. 

We start with a trekking tour that takes you through the villages of Y Linh Ho and Lao Chai.

In these villages we can find people from the Hmong minority.

Continue walking to get to Ta Van the place where the minority Dzay lives. Lunch. 

Return to the hotel in Sapa and free time. Accommodation in the hotel in Sapa.

Day 3 [B/L/-]

Sapa – Local Market

Breakfast at hotel.

After recharging your batteries, we will transport you to the local market of Sapa.
(Coc Ly – tuesdays/ Cao Son, wednesdays/ Lung Khau Nhin thursdays / Can Cau saturdays / Bac Ha e Muong Hum sundays).

Note: The visit to each market will depend on your arrival day.

Each market is held in a diferent location and distances to travel can be quite different.

These markets are attended by various ethnicities from the north such as: the Flower Hmong, the Phu La, the Black Dao, the Tay, the Nung, and all of them coming from the hills surrounding the valley. The market offers a variety of local products and spices as well as farm animals, like pigs, cows and buffaloes. Lunch at local restaurant included.

The day will continue with a short walk to the village of one of the local tribes – according to the visited market.

Once here, you can visit their homes and thus comprehend a little more of the lifestyle of its people, its culture and traditions.

Return to Lao Cai where you can rest until your return time. Trip to Hanoi on the night train.

Day 4 Hanói Arrival [B/L/-]

Hanoi, Vietnam: Fruit on display at the Hom market

Arrival to the train station in Hanoi early morning and transfer to the hotel or the airport.
